Since PHP 4 will no longer be supported, does serve have a upgrade plan to upgrade all users to PHP5?

PHP 4.4.8 Released
[03-Jan-2008]

The PHP development team would like to announce the immediate availability of PHP 4.4.8. It continues to improve the security and the stability of the 4.4 branch and all users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to it as soon as possible. This release wraps up all the outstanding patches for the PHP 4.4 series, and is therefore the last normal PHP 4.4 release. If necessary, releases to address security issues could be made until 2008-08-08.

Security Enhancements and Fixes in PHP 4.4.8:

* Improved fix for MOPB-02-2007.
* Fixed an integer overflow inside chunk_split(). Identified by Gerhard Wagner.
* Fixed integer overlow in str[c]spn().
* Fixed regression in glob when open_basedir is on introduced by #41655 fix.
* Fixed money_format() not to accept multiple %i or %n tokens.
* Addded "max_input_nesting_level" php.ini option to limit nesting level of input variables. Fix for MOPB-03-2007.
* Fixed INFILE LOCAL option handling with MySQL - now not allowed when open_basedir or safe_mode is active.
* Fixed session.save_path and error_log values to be checked against open_basedir and safe_mode (CVE-2007-3378).

For a full list of changes in PHP 4.4.8, see the ChangeLog.

Hi wtfsza,

Thank you for your inquiry, All our servers are currently running PHP5 with only two servers running on PHP4, this was done cause some of our clients scripts could not run on PHP5 and thus had to be installed on a PHP4 server.

If you are still on one of these PHP4 servers you can request to be moved to one of our PHP5 servers by just emailing support@serv.co.za

Normally takes about 8 - 24 hours to move the site, the site will also be down in this time frame as it have to resolve to our new server.

Let us know should you require any further information.

I see.

I'll get around to asking to be shifted soon. Will I need to change the nameservers for my domains or is everything done on your side?

Hello,

Best would be to contact support@serv.co.za and just clarify if the name servers needs changing, We normally take care of all the technicalities involved in a transfer of server but if you're managing your own DNS then we wont be able to update the name server details for you.

Let us know should you have any further questions.
